About Angela Durkan
I’m Angela Durkan, Founder of Speedwell Sound Therapy, and I am deeply passionate about supporting others on their healing journeys through the transformative power of sound. As a qualified Psychotherapist and Professional Sound Therapist, I combine my expertise in emotional well-being with the profound therapeutic benefits of sound. My offerings include Sound and Gong Bath sessions (with or without reflective processes), Drum Circles, Cacao ceremonies, Movement Therapy, and more—each designed to support holistic healing and personal growth.
My journey of self-discovery has spanned over 30 years, and through various meditation practices, I have developed a deeper connection to myself and the world around me. In 2008, I qualified as a Counselor /Psychotherapist, and in 2012, I discovered the life-changing effects that sound can have on healing. This led me to further my education by training with the British Academy of Sound therapists (BAST), where I earned Higher-Level Diplomas in Sound and Movement Therapy and Group Sound Therapy. I am also a proud member of the International Therapeutic Sound Academy.
My training is grounded in the best scientific research on the effects of sound on the body and includes extensive case studies and community projects focused on the impact of sound therapy for Chronic Pain. This rigorous two-year training program has equipped me with the knowledge and tools to support individuals in achieving emotional, physical, and energetic balance.
In addition to my therapeutic qualifications, I hold an Enhanced DBS check and am certified in both Workplace First Aid and Pediatric First Aid, ensuring I can offer a safe and professional environment for all my clients.
I am here to help you reconnect, heal, and find balance through the powerful integration of sound, energy work, and emotional therapy. British Academy of Sound therapists

The Speedwell flower, also known as Veronica, holds a variety of spiritual meanings. Here's how it can symbolise different things:
Protection: In medieval times, people believed that speedwell had magical properties. It was thought to help travelers stay safe and find their way home, making it a symbol of protection on journeys.
Healing: The speedwell has a long history of being used for its healing qualities, especially in Balkan traditional medicine. It was used to treat conditions like liver issues, eczema, ulcers, snake bites, and even skin wounds.
Loyalty: The speedwell is a symbol of loyalty and faithfulness, making it a beautiful choice for bridal bouquets or as a meaningful gift to someone special. It represents enduring love and commitment.
New Beginnings: The white variety of speedwell represents purity, innocence, and fresh starts. It’s a perfect flower for those embarking on new chapters in their lives.
Royalty: The purple speedwell is associated with royalty and elegance. It conveys a sense of grace and sophistication, often linked with nobility.
Joy: The pink speedwell represents youthful love, happiness, and joy. It speaks to the carefree, lighthearted side of life and love.
Openness to New Experiences: The vibrant blue speedwell petals suggest being open to new adventures. They represent calmness and adaptability, encouraging an open-minded approach to life.
Life Transitions: The purple shades of speedwell can also symbolise life changes or transitions, making it a meaningful flower when navigating major life shifts.
Safe Journeys and Enduring Love: The name speedwell itself is a kind of farewell wish for a safe journey. In Victorian times, the flower was used to express messages of loyalty and lasting love, particularly for separated lovers.
All in all, speedwell is a flower full of meanings, from offering protection and healing to symbolising loyalty, joy, and life’s transitions. It’s a beautiful reminder of the connections we hold to ourselves and to others.
