“Speedwell” is an in-person Sound Therapy group hosting a wide range of sound therapy events and courses aimed at improving health and wellbeing through Sound and Movement Therapy and Group Sound Therapy sessions, in particular working with gongs Himalayan bowls, crystal singing bowls drum and therapeutic percussion.
Sound Therapy is in high demand and these sessions are dedicated to bringing you the best scientifically , well documented researched methods of using sound on a therapeutic level as well as guided self reflection and mindfulness practices.
BAST Method (British Academy of Sound Therapy)
Speedwell founder Angela Durkan utilises the BAST Method which is based on extensive research and she has a deep understanding and knowledge of how to use sound therapeutically.
The BAST method is a specific method that combines therapeutic sound with self reflection, mindfulness and self- awareness. This method is supported by research conducted by founder of BAST Lyz Cooper, as well as research in related fields such as cognitive neuroscience, music psychology, sound cognition and medical ethnomusicology.
Angela Durkan is a qualified Psychotherapist and Higher Level Diploma BAST trained facilitator.
Angela is dedicated to integrating the BAST method into mainstream healthcare and education as well as for everyday use, working with various organisations to achieve this aim.
