What is a Sound or Gong Bath?

Sound and Gong Baths are passive meditation sessions where you "bathe" in healing sound vibrations. These ancient practices promote deep relaxation, reduce stress, alleviate emotional blockages, ease pain, and help release trauma. They can also induce altered states of consciousness, similar to deep meditation.

I specialise in using specific instruments to guide participants into an altered state, allowing therapeutic processes to occur. Sessions can focus on relaxation or include reflective exercises for deeper healing.

Sound Bath vs. Gong Bath

  • Sound Baths: Use gongs, Himalayan and crystal bowls, and therapeutic percussion instruments.

  • Gong Baths: Focus mainly on gongs and percussion instruments.

What to Expect

You’ll lie on a mat with a blanket and pillow (or sit, if preferred). The session begins with a guided meditation, followed by a 50-minute sound journey with gongs, bowls, and percussion instruments. We finish with a grounding herbal tea to help you re-enter the world feeling relaxed.

Research on Sound Therapy

Studies show that sound therapy reduces stress and helps achieve deep relaxation, similar to meditation. Research indicates:

  • Sound therapy is 16% more relaxing than conventional relaxation music.

  • 6% more relaxing than massage.

  • 64% more relaxing than other relaxation methods.

Sound therapy is also highly effective in group and community settings, with research showing positive results from community sound work.
